
Who would have thought that a public school in Okene, Kogi State would create record and sustain same in the annals of Nigeria's national competitions.
For the third time in history, the LGEA Demonstration Standard Nursery and Primary School sitted in the comfort of Onyukoko in Okene has again emerged best at the Annual National Mathematics Competition.
Ebira Reporters recalls that last year, the pupils of the school bagged 9 best prizes out of 15, an achievement reported to be first since the inception of the school.
This academic record was also traced to February 2016, when the pupils clinched the 1st to 5th positions out of the 700 pupils from the 21 Local Government Areas of Kogi state at the First Round of Nigerian Turkish International College National Mathematics Competiotion.
Interestingly, at the just concluded 2018 edition of the competition, LGEA Standard School has done it again at the Nigerian Turkish International College Kaduna, and Kano Centres, as they raked virtually all the prizes this time.
At the Kaduna centre, they grabbed the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 10th positions respectively; while at the Kano Centre, the pupils also grabbed 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th positions.
While the gold medalists (1st -3rd) and silver medalists (4th-7th) will enjoy full scholarship, the bronze medalists (8th-11th) will have only their tuition covered.
Sources at the event who could not hide their delight, told Ebira Reporters that the Head Teacher of the school, Mr Abdulmalik Abdullah has been behind the success stories of the school, and has ensured the consistent rise in the academic standard of the students.
