The Ebira People’s Association (EPA) has commiserated with the families of Alhaji Lawal Beina of Okene local government area of Kogi state over the demise of the Ohinoyi Anebira of Zaria, Alhaji Mamman Otinau Beina Lawal.
Speaking with newsmen in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital yesterday, the chairman of EPA, Zaria division, Dr Abdulfatai Adinoyi Murana, described the demise of Lawal as a great loss to Ebira people resident in Zaria, Kaduna state.
According to him, the over 12-year reign of the deceased as the Ohinoyi Anebira of Zaria brought unity and peaceful coexistence to Ebira people and other ethnic groups in the area. “He was a man with enormous humility, his reign gave us hope and peace of mind as he used his position to bring everybody together, irrespective of clan and religion.
He has demonstrated to us that with peace a lot can be achieved that is why his death beside the loss, it has inflicted injury on us.
“We are appealing to whoever that will replace him as the Ohinoyi Anebira of Zaria to follow his foot step and be able to surpass the record of achievement made by the late leader, ” he said.
Also in his condolence message, Alhaji Usman Adava of Ahmadu Bello University Printing Press, described the deceased as a leader who hate cheating and oppression. According to him “Since the late Lawal became the leader of
Anebira in Zaria, our people stopped taking themselves to police stations or Court because of the leadership quality he poses and displayed whenever an issue is brought before him.
“He attend to dispute without fear or favour, he does not look at faces when settling disputes; he was fare and just without an iota of sentiment, which was why people believed in him.
He was a father who also believed in peace and he had strengthened that within Anebira before he answered the divine call,” he said.
