The Kogi State Government on Thursday inaugurated two committees to handle the transfer the salary payment of teachers and pensions from the Local Government Areas to the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and Bureau of Local Government Pension.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engr Abubakar Ohere disclosed this while inaugurating the committee members.
The Special Adviser gave the two committees a period of two weeks to submit their reports. He also charged them to be transparent and focused in carrying out their assignment.
Engr. Ohere noted that Governor Yahaya Bello inherited a corrupt and an over bloated civil service adding that the Governor has however mustered the political will in clearing the augean stable.
The Special Adviser called for an ardent support for Governor Bello’s Administration, maintaining that the APC led-administration is succeeding in creating a new Kogi for its citizens.

Engr. Dan Victor Usman, the Permanent Secretary as Chairman; Comrade Suleiman Ndalayi Abdlullahi SUBEB chairman as Secretary; other members includes Akeji Y.A, Director Local Government; Sani Abdulraheem, Director Accounts; Arome Alfa; Hajia Saratu Abdullahi; Shehu Mayaki Ebume; Kasim Abdulmalik and A.A Hussain.
Members of the committee on transfer of payment of Pension to Bureau of Local Government Pension include Engr. Dan Victor Usman as Chairman, Hon. Odiniya Emmanuel Chairman Bureau of Local Government Pension as secretary; other members are Arome Alfa, Technical Adviser to the S.A; Akeji Y.A, Director Local Government; Onu Abdullahi Chairman Nigeria Union of Pension; Mr. Sani Abdulraheem, Director Account; and Mr. R.B Oshadare Director Account, Bureau of Local Government Pension.
In his response, the Chairman of the two committees, Engr. Dan Victor Usman thanked the Special Adviser for giving them the opportunity to serve in the Ministry. He assured him that they will carry out their assignment with due diligence.
Speaking at the inauguration the Chairman of SUBEB, Comrade Suleiman Ndalayi Abdullahi, applauded Governor Yahaya Bello for his initiative in allowing the Local Government Areas to transfer the payment of salaries to State Universal Basic Education Boards (SUBEB) and Bureau of Local Government Pension (BLGP). He said the directive will ease the payment of salaries to Teachers and Pensioners and improve efficiency in the services.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Thomas Ayodele and that of Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Onuh Abdullahi who were present at the inauguration of the committees expressed satisfaction with the efforts of government in constituting the committees.
